5.1 Phuket and Beyond

Phuket e além

Phuket, Thailand’s most popular beach destination, is the largest of all the islands in Thailand where visitors can enjoy the sun, sand and sea by day and join the throngs at the island’s bustling bars, pubs and cabarets by night. Phuket also has a wide selection of hotels and resorts to choose from as well as a countless number of hotels, restaurants and bars that are also very gay-friendly.

Near Phuket, about three hours by car (or you can fly from Bangkok), you will find Krabi, where glistening sands and blue skies converge with the Andaman Sea. Krabi province encompasses the mainland and numerous offshore tropical islands, including the famous Phi Phi islands, beloved by film producers. The area began as a quiet and off-the-beaten-path destination, but is rapidly growing in popularity.

The next trend for a beach/island destination in Thailand is Khao Lak, which is 1.5 hours North of Phuket.

Divers will find some great reef life off Phuket and in the surrounding Andaman Sea. They can also book a day excursion or live-aboard dive trip to the Surin and Similan islands.
