4.1 Eastern Coast

Costa Este

Eastern Thailand is where the locals of Bangkok go to get away from it all. The Eastern Gulf is the closest beach resort destination to the capital, with its most popular destinations including Pattaya and Ko Samet.

  • Pattaya is the closest resort to Bangkok; just an hour from the international airport.
  • Koh Samet is popular with Bangkok residents for its beautiful quiet beaches and low-key nightlife.
  • In southern Trat province on the border of Cambodia sits Koh Chang Archipelago, a popular but remote island destination for beaches, palm trees and fishing villages. Don’t expect any nightlife or shopping in these parts. Do expect several amazing natural wonders such as an undisturbed island rainforest, steep hills, cliffs, waterfalls, wildlife, fine beaches, coral reefs and an abundance of marine life.
  • About 135 miles east of Bangkok, Rayong is a delightful seaside province on Thailand’s eastern gulf coast. Temples, shrines, and pagodas dot the city, along with botanical parks and a few coastal islands to explore.
